After teasing about the possibility of spin-offs in the future, Netflix has confirmed that a spin-off is actually in the works.
What Is the Netflix Castlevania Spin-Off All About?
Just to recap, the end of Season 4 of Netflix’s Castlevania series saw Trevor Belmont defeat the physical manifestation of Death itself. He then goes home to a pregnant Sypha, with Alucard also there to welcome him back. And, oh, in case you missed it, Alucard’s parents, Dracula and Lisa, are both alive and well for some reason. However, the two have chosen to keep their rival hidden away from their son. With that said, this definitely left the path open for the spin-off. Fans definitely wouldn’t have complained if the next spin-off followed the adventures of Lisa and Dracula as the two of them try their best to blend in with the rest of humanity. Much to everyone’s surprise, the first Netflix Castlevania Spin-off will be set in the far future. Of the scant details available, we know it will be set in France during the time of the French Revolution. The story will follow Richter Belmont (the son of Sypha and Trevor), as well as Maria Renard. In the games, Maria is a distant relative of the Belmont Clan. She first appeared as a 12-year-old vampire huntress and magician who appeared as a playable character in 1993’s Rondo of Blood.

The story also seems like it’s going to be set in an entirely different timeline that most Castlevania fans are accustomed to. However, it does continue the animated series’ use of the characters from Rondo of Blood and 1997’s Symphony of the Night. Richter was the main playable character in Rondo of Blood. Meanwhile, Maria appeared in both titles with Alucard serving as the main protagonist in Symphony of the Night. The first Netflix Castlevania spin-off has no release date at the moment. For now, you might want to keep yourself busy with re-runs of the original Castlevania animated series. You can also try your hand at these Castlevania-like games.
