According to Aggiornamenti Lumia on Twitter, the Xbox database might have leaked info of a possible “Game of the Year” edition for Far Cry 6. The trusted industry insider also claims that Far Cry 6’s incoming edition will launch along an expansion, “Lost Between Worlds”. If true, this would mark the first time that Ubisoft will release a “Game of the Year” edition for a Far Cry game.
— Aggiornamenti Lumia (@ALumia_Italia) September 27, 2022 Far Cry 6 came out last October to minimal fanfare and even caught the ire of PETA due to its inclusion of cockfighting, but it did have its fair share of memorable moments. For example, critics loved its villain, Anton Castillo, who was portrayed by none other than Giancarlo Esposito. Ubisoft also released a Season Pass for the game that let you play as previous villains like Vaas Montenegro, Pagan Min, and Joseph Seed. Perhaps Ubisoft is thinking that it could apply the same tactic from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to Far Cry 6. The latest Assassin’s Creed game received support for two years, getting Dawn of Ragnarok earlier this year and a free story DLC at an undetermined date after last year’s pair of DLCs. After all, Ubisoft declared in an earnings report in May that Far Cry 6 is behind the franchise’s best year ever. It only makes sense for Ubisoft to try and support Far Cry 6 for a little while longer if only to tide audiences over until the next Far Cry game comes out years from now. Some believe that Ubisoft will hold another Forward showcase later this year where it will reveal some of the games that weren’t included but were part of the company’s leaked list of in-development projects. Ubisoft is currently preparing to launch Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and Skull & Bones on October 20 and November 8, respectively.
